Episode 1.3: Jewish Roller Derby

A few members of Jewish Roller Derby at The Big O tournament.

People of every culture share the desire to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, to build community, and create bonds that otherwise wouldn’t exist. With those communities, however, there can be blind spots that hide behind shared values.

Tiggz and Jodi Bon Jodi were among those hoping to shine a light on the blind spots within the roller derby community, when they created Jewish Roller Derby. We talk about the pride and the scars that are passed down through shared history, the experience of being a minority in an alternative sport, and what happens when your heritage stems from values that aren’t tied to a particular set of borders.
